Because the VBPC website is an extension of the club itself, it is helpful if people choose usernames that are a little more personally identifyable than other 'anonymous' websites that you are probably used to. You, of course, can choose any username you want. We would like to suggest that you at least include your first name in your username. Remember, the VBPC website is strictly members only, and all registrations are handled manually. Furthermore, it goes without saying, that the VBPC will only use your personal information to contact you for club business. Any club members attempting to use membership lists for personal or financial gain will be dealt with immediately. If you do not want a website account, do not enter a username below, but we strongly encourage you to do so. The website is our primary means of communication among club members.

IMPORTANT The club maintains an email and phone number list that we share ONLY with other paying club members. This allows us to stay in contact, plan photo activities, and conduct club business more easily. This list is accessible in the members-only portion of the web site, and you must be logged in to see it (Yahoo and google spiders can't see it either because they can't log in). We highly encourage you to also share your contact information, and most of our club members choose to do the same. Of course, anyone caught using the contact list for personal financial gain (i.e., spamming) will be immediately suspended from the club without further question. You may edit what information you choose to share and what information you choose to not share.

On February 15, 2007, the VBPC Board of Directors authorized the use of the following Mandatory Release and Assumption of Risk document. If you have ever been on a guided tour or a group trip, joined a workshop or participated in other activities, you have probably signed such an agreement or release. It is self-explanatory. All new and renewing members must sign this release.

MANDATORY RELEASE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I am aware that travel in civilized and remote areas, by any conveyance, or on foot, contains some inherent risks of illness, injury, delay or death which may be caused by the negligence of others, forces of nature, or other agencies known or unknown. I recognize that such risks may be present at any time before, during, or after workshops, programs, tours, meetings or any other activity that I am participating in under arrangement of the Virginia Beach Photography Club and its agents, affiliates, or associates. I am also aware that medical facilities and services may not be readily available or accessible during part or all of the time during which I am participating in the activity.

As a paid member of the Virginia Beach Photography Club, and for the right to participate in any workshop, tour, meeting or other activities, food and other services arranged for me by the Virginia Beach Photography Club and its agents and associates in connection with the activity, I have and do hereby fully assume all risks of illness, injury, delay, or death, and hereby fully discharge, release and hold harmless, the Virginia Beach Photography Club from any and all actions, claims or demands for damages resulting from my participation in the activity. I agree that the foregoing obligation shall be binding upon me personally, as well as my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, and on all members of my family, including any minors accompanying me.

Additionally, I understand that photographs can and probably will be taken at most club activities, which may include images of myself. If I desire to not be included in these photographs, it is my responsibility to let the photographers know before pictures are taken that I do not want to be in these pictures. All attempts will be made to keep your image out of the photos, however, it may not always be possible and my image may still be included in some images. I hereby authorize all photographs of myself taken at club activities to be used in any way the board deems necessary and reasonable, which may include promotional materials and club presentations.

I have carefully read this document and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract with the Virginia Beach Photography Club and its agents and affiliates, for membership and sign it of my own free will. I acknowledge receipt of a copy of this document, and further agree that a facsimile of this document in the possession of the Virginia Beach Photography Club shall serve as an original for any and all legal purposes or uses.
